Dragon Ball Super: Movie earns Rs. 39 crore in 2 days; India release soon

Dragon Ball Super: During its first weekend of release in Japan, the movie earned 5 lakh yen in revenue from box office sales.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, the newest instalment in the Dragon Ball film series, made its debut in Japanese theatres on June 11th. This came about after a brief holdup, as the movie was supposed to be released on April 22 but had to be pushed back because Toei Animation was the victim of a hacking attack. On Saturday, the movie was released in Japan, and there are already claims that it has grossed more than 39 crores at the box office there!

In its first two days of release, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero outperformed Top Gun Maverick with ticket sales of nearly 5 lakh, as the film was shown in 407 theatres throughout the country. During this time period, it amassed a staggering 670 million yen in profits, which is equivalent to approximately 5 million USD.

In its first weekend of release, the 2018 film Broly grossed more than 58 crore rupees, which is equivalent to over a billion yen. This amount may seem great, but it is really rather low. It is important to remember that the premiere of Broly took place on December 14, 2018, which was a Friday. As a result, the film had access to three days of the weekend, whereas Super Hero only had access to two.

Additionally, theatres across North America, Latin America, Europe, Australia/New Zealand, Africa, the Middle East, and the rest of Asia will show the movie at some point in the near future (excluding Japan). The distribution of the film all around the world will be handled by Crunchyroll.

In May, Sony Pictures India confirmed that the movie would officially arrive to theatres in the nation, but the specific premiere date and information about tickets will be disclosed at a later date. Since Crunchyroll has said that they would begin international distribution of the film beginning in August 2022, it is probable that the film will be made available in India around that same time.

About Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is a 2022 Japanese computer-animated martial arts fantasy/adventure film produced by Toei Animation. The screenplay for the film was created by Akira Toriyama, the creator of the Dragon Ball series. It is the twenty first feature film in the Dragon Ball franchise overall, the fourth one to be made with Toriyama’s direct participation, the second one to bear the Dragon Ball Super logo, and the first one to be produced mostly utilising 3D animation.

It was supposed to be published in Japan on April 22, 2022, but owing to an illegal network penetration at Toei Animation, it wasn’t until June 11 that it was really made available to the public.

The movie’s release was supposed to take place on April 22, 2022, in Japan 3D, IMAX 3D, and 4DX, but it was pushed back because Toei Animation was the target of a hacking attempt. According to the most recent projections, it will take place in North America in August of 2022.

After the Toei Animation breach, Toei made the announcement that the film will now be released on June 11, 2022 instead of when it was originally planned. In addition, Crunchyroll has said that they will begin international distribution of the movie beginning in August of 2022.

The movie had the best opening weekend at the box office (June 11-12), during which it sold around 498,000 tickets and made approximately 670 million yen (approximately $4.99 million).
